In this hyper-connected society that has never been so disconnected, where art is more important than ever yet ever more inaccsessible, Marnie’s practice holds up a mirror and says ‘come and have a chat with yourself’, inviting you in with a laugh then leaving you unsettled as realisation sinks in.
Through sculpture and performance, her work avoids over-complication. It’s simplicity is the key to its impact, walking a strange line between charming and jarring that attracts curiosity and confusion in equal measures.
